Our Flag: The Pledge of Allegiance

As we draw close to the Fourth of July, it's time to concentrate on American pride, patriotism and our heritage. There is no better time than to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and to reflect upon its meaning than on the Fourth of July.

The U.S. flag was officially recognized in 1777, when an official resolution was enacted declaring the American flag would be honored and respected.

Today, there is no other symbol that represents the freedom and liberty of the American lifestyle than the American flag.

While it has greatly evolved over the years, the flag has endured through wars and centuries, turmoil and triumph and continues to be recognized as the official symbol of the American spirit. As we celebrate the Fourth of July, let's remind ourselves of the patriotic words behind the Pledge of Allegiance.
